First Time Travelling Together?

By Cindy Crawferd

It been a few good months since you and your mate met on an internet dating site and you finally feel like the time has come for you to take your first trip together. You have traveled with your family and you have traveled with your friends.

As a matter of fact, that travelling went so well you figure that your trip as a couple should be a piece of cake. With icing and sugar on top. And you're probably right, but you do need to remember that not everyone travels like you do. We all have different expectations, so here are a few things you might want to consider before heading to the travel agent.

First and foremost you need to decide on a destination. For some this means going anywhere tropical as long as there's beach and a bar. Others aren't into the heat and prefer going someplace cooler; perhaps taking in some skiing. If you and your sweetie are at opposite poles as far as destination is concerned, you've got some talking, and some compromising to do.

When are you going to take your trip? Next week, next month or next season? You may each have different ideas about when the best time to take a trip is.

Third, you have to decide how much time to take. This is significant because both people may not have the same amount of time off. For example: Have either of you just started a new job recently? As we know, in most cases we have to be on a new job for at least 6 months before taking a vacation.

Once you have these details ironed out you need to compare vacation styles. Some want nothing more than to relax while on vacation. After all, they reason, that's what a vacation is for; relaxing. Others want to hit every single site and tourist attraction within a hundred mile radius.

Totally contrasting vacation styles can be very frustrating. Without some kind of plan, you're sure to clash. If this sounds like you and your partner, you'll have to compromise to ensure that you each get in some of the things that are important to you. Don't forget, you don't need to spend every minute of your vacation together.

If you can agree to take turns doing the things that each of you enjoy, you'll have a mutually satisfying time. A couple's first trip together should be a fun and exciting time. And it will be, provided you talk about your expectations beforehand. - 31991
