Single Life - For Girls Only

By Matt Fuller

Does having a long term partner really bring the rewards we hear about, and does being hooked up give us that certainty of feeling secure? Initially yes, but according to recent London relationships publications, many couples find themselves at a lower level of happiness in the long run.

So many men and women view becoming single as simply a stepping stone between finding a new partner - a period of limbo. But why? there is no shame or reason to hurry this process along. Statistics throughout time prove that we have more chance in finding a partner if we stop actively looking.

Do you often wonder why it is that you're the last single girl out of all your married or hooked up girlfriends? Perhaps you yourself are not single but you have a very talented and attractive friend or relative who just can't seem to land a great guy? Seriously, it just comes down to a law of averages until your number comes up, and you are not alone, 96 million other Americans are single - just like you!

How our times have changed. Today's single women in the western world enjoy freedoms and choices that would have been considered outrageous 30 years ago. Age is no barrier for women in our society when it comes to settling down. The average age for women to marry in America is now 32 years old, which is up from the age of 27 just 7 years ago.

Women nowadays are being accepted to live a lifestyle that until recently was only acceptable for men. Women are earning as much money as men, are filling executive career positions and are becoming more involved in successfully running small businesses.

Today paints a very, very different picture though. Grand parents of today's young generation could never have imagined the freedom of their grandchildren when they were at a similar age - especially the women.

Analyzing over 900 couples in a recent study by a Californian University determined that the highs of marriage were short lived after the fantasy of the nuptials wore off. For over 90% of respondents in the research, old habits and routine soon played the major factors that guided the direction of relationships - new vows and commitments were more often that not short lived. The report also suggests serious flaws in previous research that maintains people in long term relationships are happier than those who are single.

Much of this new found independence for single girls stems back to our obsession for celebrities. As soon as a celebrity decides it's okay to act a certain way, it usually means a green light to follow in the same steps for millions of followers - Madonna is a classic example of how stardom can influence an entire generation and change the course of the world.

Whether you are a traditionalist or not, women have certainly changed the social and business landscape of our modern society and are core contributors in every possible way. - 31991
