Dating After Divorce - Tips to Get You Back In The Groove

By Matt Fuller

Dealing with a divorce is one of the most traumatic experiences people face. If you were married for a long time, learning how to start meeting people again can be very intimidating. Let us help you rediscover your romantic side with some fresh ideas.

Reignite old pastimes. Perhaps you had a passion for art before you were married. Go buy yourself a canvas. Many divorced people learn to rediscover themselves through interests that were forgotten because married life did not permit it.

Take up new interests. Perhaps you've always thought about learning photography. Participating in new activities early on after divorce or separation will help you reinvent qualities within yourself you probably considered don't exist anymore. And at the same time you will be associating with new people.

Volunteer. Many people see volunteering as not a very productive way to be spending valuable time. However devoting quality time to helping others is all about making yourself a better person, and if you are a believer in karma, which I am, helping others will set you up for good things to happen in your life.

One of the most successful ways to find old friends and stay in touch is social networking. With Face Book and My Space, not only are you able to easily keep in touch with friends you see often, but you can rekindle old friendships, make new friends and discover other networks or groups of interest. Social networking sites often have many various groups you can join. There's sure to be a group with loads of single parents and divorcees who can relate to your stage of life.

You may well have heard about online dating through the media or perhaps your friends using dating sites. Dating online is a little different to social networking, there is no second guessing whether a person is single or attached, you know where you stand right from the get go!

Learning to become comfortable with dating other people again will not occur without its fair share of highs and lows. But those who are truly successful in achieving happiness after divorce are able to steel themselves against some of the negative occurrences they will come up against, and at the same time will be able to capitalize on an opportunity that arises through building their self image and becoming a saleable person. - 31991
